I just finished installing Ubuntu 8.0.4 on an old Pentium 3 machine. The Ubuntu disc I had on hand was made on May 8, 2008. After installing it, Ubuntu had 348 updates to do – and at a file size in excess of 300MB! Took a couple of hours to do, but the old machine is doing quite nicely now.
