Remembering the Netbook

Back in 2008, I started getting interested in Netbooks. I ended up trying a couple of different brands, my last being the Acer Aspire One. Shortly after buying the iPad in 2010, I sold my Netbook to a friend who had a couple of “tween” daughters. She had already bought the same model for herself to take on a trip before giving it to her eldest daughter on her return. I remember remarking to my friend what a marvelous match in size the Netbook was for a child, perfect for their smaller hands. Now just a few years later, I read about how the Netbook is being abandoned by the major manufacturers, the market for them killed off by tablets and smartphones. Tech is a bitch.
