One night in the late 70s, I learned how to see differently from my friend Bill when I asked him how he drew so realistically using just a pencil. He replied, “I draw the shadows.”
I hadn’t looked at a piece of paper as white light before. Such an obvious perspective shift to mold the white light by going after the dark objects, but I hadn’t made the connection. I was thrilled to put into practice and see my sketch of a glass come to life simply by using this approach.
