From what I can tell, having lots of Facebook ‘friends’ and ‘likes’ means very little as far as referral traffic is concerned. One of the Facebook accounts I monitor has a steady stream of ‘friend’ requests and ‘likes’ all day and night, but does that translate to site visits? No. Not seeing any evidence of a traffic boost from all the Facebook activity. Too bad, I was hoping otherwise.
From a business perspective Facebook, at least for the site in question, really doesn’t seem to be anything more than a place where people can try to promote themselves or their product. How many of these people actually bother to check out anybody else’s stuff? I’d say not a whole lot.
