Amazon vs. iTunes for MP3 Downloads

Until recently, I downloaded my music from Apple’s iTunes Store. However, in order to be able to do any kind of editing in Audacity or use a program like Transcribe, I have to first make an AIFF file of the download by burning a CD. I can then take the track off of the CD, edit it in Audacity or use Transcribe, or convert that to an MP3 if I like. What a pain. Fortunately, Amazon doesn’t ‘lock’ up their MP3 files so the burn-a-disc jog isn’t necessary. Needless to say, I’m buying most of music from Amazon these days.
