I watched the Ken Burns Civil War series on Netflix. Hard to believe it was released in 1990, has it been that long already? Fascinating seeing all those old photos. Staring into the eyes of a soldier from 150 years ago is still a trip. Also, was surprised hearing that the US population then was 31 million. Sometimes I forget just how many people have been roaming the earth and for so long. Now we're at 311 million.

I got a chance to see Jean Ferrandis in an open rehearsal with the Santa Rosa Symphony at Green Music Center last night. Wow! Great flute player. Plays a C foot BTW (like most of the non-American flutists). Catch him if you can!

Went to Costco to get a flat tire fixed

Yesterday, I noticed my front passenger tire was looking pretty low on air so I headed over to Costco. Turns out they found a nail in that tire. They also found a nail in another tire and a staple in another. Thanks Costco!

Juice fasting works wonders!

After four days of the juice fast, so far so good (lost about six pounds). I'm improvising a lot with my juices, haven't really made anything that tasted horrible yet which surprises me since I'm not following any set recipes. I'm favoring juices that have some kick, so I'm adding ginger and arugula, sometimes onion.

Started today off with a fruit juice that was really good – just one banana, one apple and a couple of carrots. The rest of the day I'm having more vegetable juices using kale, celery, cucumber, tomato, carrot, parsley, beet, spinach, arugula and ginger. I grind up nearly everything, including the stems for parsley and the stalks and leaves for the beets.

In addition to my congestion being gone, the dark circles under my eyes have lightened and most bizarre of all, the tightness in my jaw has disappeared. I really can't believe it!

Fat Sick and Nearly Dead – an amazing movie!

Just finished watching "Fat Sick and Nearly Dead | a Joe Cross Film" and was simply astonished by the rapid weight loss Joe and Phil achieved juicing. The transformation these two men go through over the course of the movie is nothing short of miraculous. Talk about inspirational! I've got thirty pounds to lose. Day #1 of the fast starts tomorrow!
